Position for Mine Manager Legal 3.1(a) Mine Health And Safety Act Appointment
Knowledge:
Matric / Grade 12 with a minimum of 5 years' relevant working experience.
Competency A: Examine and Make Safe (MQA Accredited).
Preferably a Blasting Certificates for Opencast Mines.
Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act.
COMSOC 1 & 2 would be beneficial.
Machinery and equipment safety.
Key Performance Areas:
Workplace safety requirements, policies, and procedures.
Control, manage & direct employees, including independent contractors and visitors.
Take all reasonable measures to ensure the health and safety of employees.
Dictate policy on health & safety systems.
Address any non-compliance with the Acts.
Communicate official orders, suspensions & instructions from the DMR to all employees.
Not allow incompetent or inexperienced workmen to be employed on dangerous work.
Implementing and maintaining legal and safety systems required by DMR.
Staying up to date with the latest legislation.
Ensuring all Legal appointments are in place and up to date.
Overseeing plant upgrades, shutdown planning & large maintenance projects.
Long-term quarry layout planning, scheduling blasts & ensuring safe and tidy berms, high walls & access ramps in place.
Overseeing production team to optimize crusher plant output.
Adhere to the stipulations of the Mining Right Application.
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to DMR, and other stakeholders.
